A Ukrainian border guard looks at a man strolling with his child at the yet unopened border crossing at the Maly Selmentsi village on the Ukraine-Slovakia border, 06 November 2005. The village, named Velke Slemence on the Slovak side, has been divided for 60 years after a border laid down at the end of World War II sliced it in half. After years of negotiations, a border crossing was built in the village, but is still waiting bureaucratic approval from Kiev and Bratislava to open.
