Bosnian Serbs demonstrate in the western Bosnian town of Banja Luka on February 18, 2008, in support of Serbs who live in the Serbian regions of Kosovo. Serbia opposes Kosovo’s February 17, 2008 declaration of independence, and Serbian President Boris Tadic warned the UN Security Council on February 18, 2008, that Kosovo’s unilateral secession was likely to shake the world order for years to come.
The main opposition Bosnian Serb party called on February 18, 2008, for the independence of the Serb-run half of Bosnia, citing Kosovo as a precedent. Since its 1992-1995 war, Bosnia has consisted of two entities, the Serb-run Republika Srpska (RS) and the Muslim-Croat Federation, each with their own government, parliament and police force.
