Since Lithuania’s EU entry Russians need visas to cross Lithuania on their way from Kaliningrad to „Big” Russia. At the same time, the Lithuanian Railways company is technically prepared to organize high-speed transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of Russia, Interfax reported. „The decision to launch a high-speed visa-free train route will be made by the political authorities of Lithuania and the European Union,” head of Lithuanian Railways’ Cargo Transit Department Valis Rimvidas said.
