A Rom poses in traditional headdress at a presentation in the Museum of the Gypsy Culture in Brno 26 October 2006. The many tribes of the Romani Cel, whose nomadic ancesters originated in India and arrived in Greece in the 9th century, are spread across Europe, from the Balkans to the Nordic countries, from the Carpathian mountains in Czechoslovakia to France. Today, there are some 15 dialects of the Indic language of Romany, each highly influenced by the country of their assimilation. AFP PHOTO/Otto Ballon Mierny
